Anti-maskers join forces with another new group

A rally was held today in Houston, Texas by two new groups that have agreed to work together. Don’t Use Masks or Barriers (DUMB) is teaming up with Counter Laws On Drinking (CLOD) to oppose what they call “government interference in the marketplace of behavior.”

DUMB claims that wearing masks to prevent COVID-19 is a plot to control the American people and is completely unnecessary. CLOD believes that laws on driving under the influence of alcohol should be overturned.

A spokesperson for the groups, Eli Zorlwaze, said that people should be able to get home after drinking in a bar or at a friend’s house. “They have the God-given right to sleep in their own beds in their own homes, and if they have to drive to get home, that should be perfectly OK.”

He continued: “Governments and the fake media say that masks and drink-drive laws are to protect other people. But they restrict our freedoms. If people can’t stand being coughed or sneezed on, they are too weak and we don’t need those people. And if pedestrians and cyclists are worried about being hit by a car or truck, they can’t be real Americans. They should stay home – or better still, go back to where they came from.”

When a reporter said that Donald Trump had tweeted that wearing masks was ‘patriotic,’ Zorlwaze said that the President would never say that, and his Twitter account must have been hacked. “And those pictures of him wearing a mask – clearly photoshopped by the Deep State.”

Update: When I wrote this, I thought the attitude towards drunk driving was so ridiculous that no one could mistake it for reality. Tragically, I was wrong. Just a week later, this story appeared in the Toronto Star:
