About 10 days ago, workers with a courier company held a food drive. They dropped off good-size bags at people’s homes. Everyone was asked to put non-perishable foods in the bags, which the workers collected. (The company is called Purolator. I don’t think it’s a smart idea to include ‘lator’ in your name if you are competing to deliver parcels promptly, but that’s another story.)
Of course a rich country like canada shouldn’t need food banks. Everyone should have enough income to live on – hence the campaign for a living wage. I made this point in my letter to the Hamilton Spectator, which appeared on 25th September. (Doug Ford is the Premier of Ontario; hos government sets the province’s minimum wage.)
Note: I realized too late that the last sentence is ambiguous, but in context my meaning should be clear.
