Welcome to my blog ‘ProbablyMaybe’

“Just what the world needs,” I hear you muttering sarcastically, “another blog.”
So why the heck am I doing it? Of course there’s some ego involved. I’m the same as lots of people, I like to think I have something to say. And I occasionally get a letter or even an OpEd published in a newspaper. I’ll take that as actual evidence that some people think my ideas are worth a wider hearing than just my wife.
This will also be good for me, relieving my frustrations. All those times when the papers don’t publish me; well, now I can publish anyway.
I plan to include a range of topics. Plenty of blogs on politics; maybe just a quick reaction to an item in the day’s news, especially if it abuses numbers. Other postings will be irregular. Some may only interest people who live in this area or province or country (Dundas, Ontario, Canada). I’ll try to use humour when I can, and if I learn to draw better, throw in the odd cartoon; maybe a few book ‘reviews’; a link to something I see; a photo; or whatever gets my attention that day.
Sure I’ll be writing on topics I know little or nothing about, and will get things badly wrong. But you, dear readers, will not hesitate to put me right.
Above all, I’ll want to say something new – which really means something I haven’t heard or read. I hope you don’t agree with all my blogs and get angry at others. After all, if you just nod your head, why am I bothering?
P.S. A word about the blog name. No, it wasn’t in response to Donald Trump’s musing in early January 2019 about declaring an emergency over the border wall with Mexico: “… I probably will do it, maybe definitely” (though the reports online differ on the exact wording). ProbablyMaybe was a suggestion from Eileen, my wife. She gets frustrated when I won’t commit. I use hedge words. So I liked her idea of putting two together, and here we are.
