Hamilton, Ontario has three public golf courses owned by the city. One of the city’s councillors would like to convert at least one of the courses into more widely used green space – regular parkland, sports fields, etc.
The local paper, the Hamilton Spectator, ran a story about it last Friday (September 27). I sent them the letter below. When you read it, you’ll know that I do not play golf. I like to tell those who do that maybe one day I will slow down enough to take it up. As John McEnroe, the tennis player, puts it: if if you are going to call it a sport, shouldn’t you have to run around a bit? Indeed.
My letter appears in today’s paper.
